Altitude

Unbelievable, i was amazed and shocked. Seriously, you'll get high blood pressure watching this movie. Over what reason"s"?
1.U'll be watching how an annoying timid comic geek who reacting in an over-dramatic manner in respond to his fear of flight.
2.Contrasting to the geeky character, there's always this cocky dick jerk who acted as if his the center of the world. Though, his a paranoid. Can somebody shut his god dam mouth!
3.U'll get several "almost ending" scenes. Get what i mean?
4.The plot is a major turn down for this movie. Wtf, have u ever watch a movie that summarize all the bitters and sweets are nth but just caused some fking imagination of a helpless timid freak? Ooopss, spoiler~
5. In the cinema, somebody shouted at the screen: "Ooi, faster end lah! WTF!"
6. Audience boo-ed at the movie from the beginning to the very end of it.
7. What to watch with a few character stuck inside the small plane, plus, the actors/tresses are forced to be drama, causing emotional constipation. I respect them.
9.Watch out for the GIANT FLOATING OCTOPUS WITH HIS NASTY BAD BREATH~ ARRRHHhhhhhhh.....(fainted)
8. Gals are nice, esp the MC, while the guys, eee......not that visually striking.

Arggghhh!!! Some sands enter my eyes!!! 

I hate this guy, not the actor, just the character.

Jessica Lowndes plays the rookie female pilot in the film, beautiful~

Conclusion: One word is good enough to describe the film, LAME.

A perfect contrast to the film above, this feels more like a MOVIE.
Still, feels like taking 10 rounds of roller coaster watching this film.
 
Why i said it's a perfect contrast to the, whats the name, lametitude? O, sorry, its "Altitude". Ya c, both of the story share a few commons  in terms of their ways of expressing their own respective story. Exactly like writing an essay, having the story timeline mixed together is very risky. U might ends up making the audience sick or u mite intrigue their deepest curiosity. S.I belongs to the latter and clearly Altitude is to the former.

 I love the setting and the theme. Story wise, perfect.
Generally, it's about a mysterious case of a missing female patient, Rachel Solando, of a mental institution located on the deserted island, yep, shutter island. The US Marshal, Teddy, took the case and together with his partner, Chuck, starting on this endless and clueless search for the missing patient, or should i say, a never ending cycle of the realization of "truth"? Don't want to spoil too much here, because i want u to watch it! Nah, i'm not forcing you, if ur a fan of psycho thriller, u should watch this.

Michelle Williams taking the role of Dolores Chanal, the deceased wife of Teddy, died in a fire incident. Appear in much of the scenes as hallucination of Teddy.

Visual effect, stunning. Art work, gorgeous. Plot, a lot of twisting but interesting. Sounds effect, good enough.
Rating, 4 out of 5 stars.

Me: Erm....ok lo...as usual lo (Dun wanna describe so much, cuz i wanna see how much ya noe bout my shop)
Hyde: His mom food is the best! I love her curry, the soup is just fantastic! ( BFF!!! Yayz!! ;D)
DongLim: Yalo, passed through ya mom shop few days ago, saw so much food nie!!! (Did u enter and haf a taste of it?)
Me: Of coz, my mom knows alot about cooking. Specialised in Malaysia local flavor...
QCY: I also visited his mom's kedai kopi several times already. ( Lie, cuz i asked my mom ad. She confidently speaking : whr gt?)
Thai Ming: I'm quite curious how's ya shop been renovated ever since it's no longer a grocery shop. I passed through a few times but never really take a glance at it. ( Thank you for being so honest, but it hurts so much T.T......dam)

Its been such a long time haven't heard from the PCD, especially Kimberly, one of my favourite of the PCD. Now she's going solo and guess what, with this video as a proof, i think she can just do quite well without PCD. Let's just wish we can see her more in the future. Movie Reviewssssssss Part I

The last review is like two months ago >.<

Well, can't help. I was busy back then. Now? Quite laid back already, can lepak here and there and keep on doing nth and thinking nth, Gosh~ When is the last time i behaved like that?

Watched quite an amount of movie since last time i gt back from Kampar, havent made any reviews due to the hectic schedule, now, i can finally share with u my reviews of the films. The post will be divided into Part I and Part II because it is too long to write in one post.
So, let's get started with the first one.....


Ocean Heaven

I wasn't intended to watch this movie because i didn't even know this film existed. I was only following my friends entering the cinema as a mean of celebration after final presentation.

  At first, I was like wtf, kinda lost at the beginning. Turns out the film is quite good itself. Not bad. The stories is about the hardship of a devoting father and his autistic son spending most of their lifetime struggling just to live an ordinary life. The story is kinda sad itself, few of my friends nearly got their tears drop. Me? Between that and sleepy. Ok, with extremely lil' whipping.

  Although the flow of the story is not dramatic(that's why my eyes closed for some scenes), throughout the movie it is quite silent i will said, but the emotion is intense.  Sometimes silence in the movie can be used as a good tool to express explosion or surprises of the subsequent scene, but in this case, it is used as an "empty space" for the audiences thoughts, making the voices of thoughts louder.

  One more interesting fact about the film is Jet Lee. Jet Lee, previously known  for his role in action movies, or generally a famous action figure. Now, he's playing the cancer patient who's having difficulty in teaching his son to be independent and at the same time pushing his EQ beyond the limit.An admirable character indeed. On the other hand, his "son", Wen Zhang, played the role fantastically, it's not easy for a normal being to act alike as the real autistic did. The character's behaviour is very detail but remain natural at the same time.

 Another thing that draws my attention is because of the girl shown in the picture on right hand side, kwai lun mei, chinese name is 桂綸鎂. I like her natural acting talent, as well as her role in the film. Her role is not that dominant in the movie, but quite essential and influential. It is "she" who manage to changed the MC personality alot, aside from his father of coz.

 Generally, it's a story of how a daily hero creates wonders in his life. It's a good movie, no doubt, but to watch it in the cinema is quite unnecessary to me, well, i mean inside a cinema u'd wish u can fully enjoy the experience of theater system blasting ur eyes and ears, right?

Cry-able rating: 4 out of 5 stars
Worth watching in cinema rate: 2 out of 5 stars

The Detective Dee, 狄仁杰

  

The movie is a lil' bit...umm.....rojak i would say.

Story is about the legendary first empress in China built herself a China version Statue of Liberty. Somebody caught on fire when exposed to sunlight just by touching the talisman. Mystery begin, the Queen then was forced to let out the imprisoned detective Dee to search out what the hell is actually causing it. People believe it to be the curse of the talisman but all the "pihak berkuasa" all noes whats goin on, it could not be an incident, at least not that simple.The quest for the truth began and blah blah. The end? U can guess, it's predictable.

  The reason why i watched this film is because of the poster. It looks interesting and promising to me. Somehow, the movie doesn't successfully impressed me that much. Story wise, i dont think its something new nor do i found it exciting. Its very predictable, i'd almost caught asleep during the movie.

 Yet, the artwork is wonderfully done. From the costume to the the massive architecture, it is brilliant. Well, the director is Chui-Hak, 徐克, what do u expect from such an imaginative director? He'd always love to include those imaginative elements inside his film. Though, i would have to say, the building are much towards the ancient Roman's and Greek's architecture, which is quite western. It's giving me a feeling of watching The Chronicles of Narnia, only with Chinese actors and actresses. The action is a lil' exaggerating but, what the hell, it was meant to be strengthen the visual impact , personally i think its acceptable.

  By the way, i love the choices of actors and actresses. Andy Lau as the detective is good enough, but it would also be interesting if Tony Leong Chiu Wei took the role.

The first time saw it i thought its so Japaneesee........I love Japaneesee, so i think i "can" like the style ;P
First off, i think the film should give her chances to show off her acting skills! Seriously, i think her role in the movie is quite normal, i know she'd suppose to do the cruel empress with a "still human" heart but i think she deserved more scenes. Anyways, her style throughout the style is quite unique, but somehow i find some resemblance with the Star War Princess from her make-up. Is it just me or......

Imaginary dialogue: I wear pants ~

So, generally, it's a 3.5 out of 5 stars . Good for killing time but if ur like me, u mite feel a lil' discomfort on the "crash" of cultures, eg. Japanese, Roman's, Chinese, The Olympians & etc.......hmmmm.....Just not right somehow.

Writting Blog

Itz been 2 months i had been writing blog and it has been something new to me(not really , =P)

Writing blog is like......how to say.....hmmm....i'm figuring....

Ok, writing a blog is everything like the last sentence, u wanted to said something on it, but the minute u start typing u will keep on using the backspace tab frequently even if ur unwilling too. Actually it may not be the case to many people, to most at least i guess. To people like me, yes, definitely true.

From the day ICQ introduced to us and till the day we're using MSN, which is at present, many of us are following the trends, blindly. Their mind is prone to influence of others and the media, and eventually they had lost their own definition of values. There had been alot of people writing blog nowadays, and i believe not even half of them can continue till as long as possible.

Honestly, writing blog is like designing to me; designing is like teaching ur own students which is the same as educating ur children. Its not only the effort u put into it, is the soul and truthfulness to something, and that is kinda out-price every matter in the universe. I mite say my work looks horrible or i mite convince myself that it could be better, but i will never feel regretful or shameful about it, i'd learned something out of it, and i'm glad.

In any case, lacking of "truthfulness", i think "love and care" alone is not enough to actually convey it to others. That's why, i'd always try my best to keep spirit in many thing, from designing to friendship to family and to blogging. It is not a burden, it is a responsibility, which is not a chain, but a key to break free from ur own misery.

Why am i talking so dramatic about writing a blog? Its not actually just about blogging of coz, but, everything about me.

To those who always wanted to live in the past and to those who refuse to grow....
Being a  more mature person doesn't mean u will give up ur childish side, it's about discarding the old ways of thinking and become a more thoughtful one with the same "child" inside u.


Imagine this, one is wearing black and one is wearing white.
Who is the "child" and who is the "adult"?

The Pre and Post of the Assessment

I was late again in updating my blog, please forgive me cuz u haf no idea how busy i m even after my most important date.

Pre-presentation, 31st October

Peaceful and laid back during the day, and the night scene is the counterpart of the day. I'm working on conceptual sheet, which i thought i can finish it by 12 Midnite, unfortunately but predictable, i worked way over the hours. The difficult thing for a conceptual sheet is the expression of one's thought and presented in an understandable way to the others. It might seems easy because u have all the concepts in your brain but it is not the same to others. I worked hard for ideas, scrap, tear it off, worked for ideas, scrap, tear it off......the cycle begun. Until 4.20 am. Then i go to sleep, not peacefully.

Presentation, 1st November

My heart beats at an abnormal pace, but i'm unusually calm. The water is bone chilling, and i struggle in the bathroom as usual since the day i came to UTM. Wyn Gy on the other hand, is even more laid back in the room, dipping his favorite crackers with Malaysian's favorite morning crave, Milo........

Ok, skip the long stories. Wyn Gy and I WALKED all the way to the studio, and there's not even a single bus appear. And i hate the wind that day, my hair was spoiled because of that. Wonder if i can get revenge on the wind? Hmmmm....

The studio looked just as chaotic as always, with some difference in the arrangement of the tables and chairs. All units ready...... not really, some are high speed coloring while some just started writing the conceptual sheet,some, i think crown the lists by NOT ATTENDING the crit. WTF...Anyways, the crit began.

I was on the eighth of the list, it's only a short while before my turn. People writing their speech on cards while some just wandering around sleepily figuring the key words of their works. Hasib was even more prepared cos the practiced 4 time already before the actual presentation. Seems like i'm the only one who didn't really prepare much for the presentation. I got all the words written on my conceptual sheet, but umm...its not right to look at it and read it, right? Well, there's not much times left, who cares abt thing the "could have been done". It's either do or die.  So, i decided to ROCK THE HELL OUTTA MY TALK with whatever i can think of, well, of coz, i comes up with a tactic before i present ;).



Finally the juries started to comments.
(Below are some self-interpreted dialogue, which made up by myself. XP )

Jury A: "Kael, i think your communication skills is good, ur in because ur convincing enough, but look at the quality of ur work, it's wasted for the past few weeks, the writing is horrible."

Jury B:" Yes, ur quality in terms of the line quality is a lil' lacking but i love ur design! U even did a little strip show during the presentation! Its making the presentation less boring. When u haf a good design, all those other lacking can be covered!"

Jury C (cyfu): "Emm, after Jury B "pleasant" comment, i think yes, the design is good, but dont get carried over by that, and i haf to agree with Jury A, work on d convention of ur work. Not to forget, control ur artistic feature in drawing, make it NEAT AND TIDY."

Feedback from my peers: Really good bo!, Good Job, Hen Yeng lo, Syok o....

My own feelings: Phew~ at least i present it safely...Really Happy about it!!
